UK Healthcare becomes the first health system to embed blue-dot wayfinding in MyChart

UK HealthCare, the academic medical center of the University of Kentucky, serves patients across four hospitals, more than 80 specialized clinics, and hundreds of outreach programs in Lexington, Kentucky. Looking to close the gap between the digital and physical patient experience, UK HealthCare pioneered the deployment of blue-dot wayfinding directly inside MyChart, powered by Gozio Health.
UK HealthCare has invested in digital tools like MyChart to help patients schedule appointments, access health records, and manage their care. But once patients arrived on campus, they had to rely on printed maps, posted signage, or staff directions.
Late arrivals and missed appointments are common challenges for any large health system, affecting both operational efficiency and patients' overall perception of the care visit. UK HealthCare recognized that to truly unify the patient journey, navigation needed to live where patients already were.
UK HealthCare partnered with Gozio tobring its industry-leading blue-dot wayfinding directly into MyChart, becomingthe first system to do so and setting a new standard for what the patientnavigation experience can look like.
Gozio's wayfinding is purpose-built for healthcare, accounting for the unique challenges of hospital environments like multi-level buildings, off-limits areas, and accessibility requirements. With the integration, patients can now:
By meeting patients inside the app they already know and trust, UK HealthCare ensured that wayfinding reaches as many patients as possible.
“Complex campuses like ours are often prone to late arrivals or missed appointments, which impacts both operational efficiency and patients’ overall perception of the entire care visit,” said Kayla Staley, Director of Digital Engagement at UK HealthCare.“Adding Gozio’s blue-dot wayfinding to MyChart gives our patients a one-stop-shop to navigate their entire care journey from booking an appointment to traveling to it.”
UK HealthCare offers a clear proof point: when the right technology is in place, the entire care journey, from scheduling to the point of care, can be seamless, connected, and fully within the patient's existing digital experience.
UK HealthCare is the hospitals and clinics of the University of Kentucky, with over 9,000 people – physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals – all dedicated to providing the most advanced, most effective care available, not just in Kentucky, but anywhere.
