How Nicklaus Children's Hospital is creating incredible experiences for patients and caregivers with a unified, intuitive mobile app.
Nicklaus Children's Health System, headquartered in South Florida, is a leading pediatric hospital known for delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents. Recognizing the increasing expectations from patients and families for seamless digital experiences, Nicklaus Children’s embarked on a strategic initiative to enhance patient engagement through advanced mobile technology.
In an increasingly digital world, Nicklaus Children's Health System faced the challenge of meeting rising consumer expectations for convenient, integrated healthcare solutions. Pediatric care presented unique requirements, such as ensuring proxy access for adolescent patients and ease of use for caregivers managing multiple tasks. Their existing digital tools were fragmented, leading to a disjointed experience that did not align with their vision of patient-centered care. Additionally, the system needed a scalable platform that could readily incorporate future technological enhancements.
To address these challenges, Nicklaus Children’s partnered with Gozio Health to launch the MyNicklausChildren’s App, an integrated, unified mobile platform designed specifically around the patient and caregiver journey. Utilizing Gozio’s open mobile architecture, the solution seamlessly integrates several critical healthcare services, including Gozio’s proprietary wayfinding technology, provider directories powered by Kyruus, scheduling capabilities, and the Oracle Cerner patient portal. This unified mobile app simplifies access, improves navigation throughout the care journey, and addresses specific pediatric care needs. Additionally, the architecture ensures the platform can easily scale to accommodate future enhancements such as entertainment and meal-ordering functionalities.
The launch of the MyNicklausChildren’s App made Nicklaus Children’s Health System the first pediatric hospital in South Florida to offer a comprehensive digital front door experience. The app quickly demonstrated its value by achieving five times the usage of previous digital solutions, showcasing significant improvement in user engagement and patient satisfaction. Dr. David Seo, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Nicklaus Children’s, emphasized the impact, stating:
"We are in the midst of a massive consumerization of healthcare, and this is what people have come to expect from us. We want their experience to be as smooth and frictionless as possible."
With its successful deployment, Nicklaus Children's has established a powerful digital foundation, poised for ongoing innovation and sustained growth in patient-centered care.
